Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington will open the Bossier Sheriff’s Office rifle range this Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27,  and two additional weekends for use by the public to sight in their rifles.

The range, located at 2955 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing, will also be open Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 17-18 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.  The range will not be open for public use on Oct. 10-11.

The range features 12 shooting lanes with targets at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.  Basic targets will be available at the range, but shooters are welcome to bring their own paper targets.  You’ll need to bring your own weapons and ammunition, since none will be available at the range.  You'll also need to bring your own hearing and eye protection, but these will be available at the range, if needed.

"I am pleased to offer this service to our residents so they can sight in their rifles at our range in a safe environment, especially as we approach hunting season," said Sheriff Whittington.

Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to register. The Rifle Range is located just south of the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy on Old Plain Dealing Road approximately 12 miles from the town of Benton.
