Bossier Parish 911 Board Looking to Fill Vacancy

Resumes are being accepted to fill a vacancy on the Bossier Parish 911 Board of Directors.

Parish Administrator Bill Altimus told the police jury that board member Cindy Dodson, appointed to the board in the Plain Dealing area, forwarded a letter informing the group she was stepping down.

Juror Glenn Benton asked that resumes be required, because "this is an important position."

According to a news release, Jury President Wanda Bennett, who headed the parish-wide 911 system for several years, suggested the resumes for the position come from the Plain Dealing district.

"When 911 was established, it was done so that every point of the parish was represented and that has worked very well," she said. "It is also important that this is a lay board. We saw what would happen when the board of directors was loaded with people who are professionals in one of the fields -- fire or police or whatever."

Resumes or letters can be mailed to the police jury at P.O. Box 70, Benton, LA 71006, or hand-delivered to the police jury office on the first floor of the parish courthouse in Benton. They can also be emailed to rhauser@bossierparishla.gov.

The deadline for submissions is January 18, the date of the next scheduled police jury meeting. Keep in mind, the courthouse will be closed Monday, December 26, for the Christmas holiday.
