UPDATE, August 10, 2016: This boil advisory has been canceled. Tests on water samples have come back free of contaminants.

ORIGINAL STORY:  A boil advisory is in place for a portion of Bossier Parish that gets its water from the city.

The advisory is for residents and businesses along Kingston Road from around Willow Chute Bayou to Airline Drive. It includes Kingston Elementary School, Shiloh Baptist Church, Kingston Crossing Apartments and the St. Charles Court subdivision.

A fire hydrand was hit and damaged by a vehicle this morning, which caused a drop in water pressure in the area and temporary loss of water service. Service has since been restored, but utility department crews are working to repair the hydrant.

The advisory is a precautionary measure. Residents are urged to boil their water for one minute before drinking it, or using it for food preparation or teeth-brushing. The city will notify the media when the advisory is rescinded.
