Living out in the woods has it's advantages.  At the McCoy house we occasionally see deer and the boys could always pee outside.

But living the rural life does have it's disadvantages.  Like Halloween.  See, we live so far off the beaten path, trick or treating around our place would be over in 5 minutes.  A quick trip across the road to Neighbor James' house and next door to the in laws and it would be over.

Thank goodness that people like us have friends who live in neighborhoods.  Please understand that I'm in no way advocating people all over to converge on these neighborhoods for that magical "candy free for all," but if you're invited to go trick or treating with those friends in their neighborhood, then it would be impolite (and ignorant) to turn down the offer wouldn't it?

It got me to thinking that we have several neighborhoods here in Northwest Louisiana that really go all out for the night and I wanted to thank them for the kindness they extend to their own neighborhood kids, and those "extended family" rural kids that only get to call that "their" neighborhood for the night.
