The Barksdale "Defenders of Liberty" Air Show is this weekend at Barksdale Air Force Base.  I never miss it...and watching the pilots maneuver aircraft costing more than I'll make in my lifetime through flames, obstacles and other expensive aircraft, one gets the idea that "its easy."  Nothing could be further from the truth!  I've actually been able to help get 2 former Kiss Jockeys aboard demo flights with the Thunderbirds.  Both thought it was the coolest, scariest, most nauseating thing they'd ever done...well, the parts they could remember.  In no capacity did the word "easy" ever appear in their description.  We even put one of them on KISS Country "Live"...right up til the point he passed out.  Easy?  Nope!  Fun to watch?  Every time.   Major Joseph Babboni is the director of this year’s show and he says there’ll be as much to see and do on the ground as there will be in the air.   And just in case you were wondering...IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE!  Highlighting the “aerial” part of the show this year will be the Air Combat Command’s F-22 demonstration team — making its first appearance.  The Air Force sees the yearly show as a way to say “Thank You” to the civilian community for all of its support while, at the same time, showcasing base personnel doing what they do best. Gates to the base open at 9:00 Saturday and Sunday morning. The first “aerial” act will take to the sky about 10:30am!
