Once again, time to check and see what's playing on the Kissing Bandit's iPod. It's a Brad Paisley song with... William Shatner?!?!

Believe it or not, actor William Shatner... you know... Captain Kirk; has recorded many albums including several music albums. In 2004, he released "Has Been" and it was actually met with high praise from critics.  It was one of my favorite albums from that year, and one of the great songs from it is a duet with Brad Paisley!  Yes!  Our Brad Paisley has recorded music with Captain Kirk!

Paisley actually wrote the song for Shatner.  The theme deals with an actor (William Shatner) who has "saved the world" many times on the screen, but at the end of the day he's just a man who "eats and sleeps and breathes and bleeds and feels" just like the rest of us. In other words... he's "real."

It's such a fun song and beautifully written by Paisley.  But, don't go looking for Shatner's "Has Been" album expecting to hear more country music. While "Real" is the crowning gem of the album, it's the only song that could be considered country.

If you're a big Brad Paisley fan and haven't heard this song yet... you can listen to it and thank me later.

The first voice you hear on the track is Paisley counting down to the start, then William Shatner goes into a sort-of spoken word verse followed by Brad Paisley on the chorus. Enjoy a YouTube user loaded video below featuring "Real" set to photos of William Shatner.
