The 4th Annual Arklatex Ambassadors BBQ Cook-off is slated for this Saturday, April 9 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport and will pit BBQ teams from across the country in a friendly competition as they raise funds for the the Ark-La-Tex Ambassadors’ college scholarship essay contest for Arklatex high school seniors.

Teams will be judged in several categories including chicken, pork ribs, pork and brisket and a Grand Champion crowned during the evening’s award ceremony.

Gates are open to the public from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm and attendees will enjoy live music throughout the day along with food vendors, children’s play area and mechanical bull rides.

New this year is The Kid’s Cook-off which will feature the first 40 children registered, ages 6 - 18. The Ark-La-Tex Ambassadors provides the pit, the charcoal, the competition meat and everything to have a good time. For additional information go to ArklatexAmbassadors.com

Another new attraction this year is a "Rib Eating Contest."  If you're interested in participating, register online at ArklatexAmbassadors.com.  You can participate as an individual or as a school or organization. The contest will start at 3:00 pm and contestants will have three minutes to eat as many ribs as they can. Judges will determine by weight the winner of a trophy and gift card to Silver Star Steakhouse for individuals, or gift card to Silver Star Steakhouse and $500 to the school, if participating as a school entry. Entry fee is $100, and can be provided by a sponsor.
