Okay, it's official. When I grow up, I want to be just like Amanda Kirby! She's this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

Amanda's husband Rick wrote to tell us of her unselfishness and just how far she's willing to go to serve cancer patients and their families. His letter was so moving, she was an obvious shoe-in for this week's award.

Amanda is actively involved in the community and anytime we have any type of fundraiser going on she lends a helping hand. Whether it be for my older kids/ her step kids, or for complete strangers. There is nothing she loves more than spending time with her family and they are very close. She and her Mom have recently started a non profit organization (Boo's Battle Support Fund)in her sisters name, to help out people in our area...her sister had a very long battle with cancer and lost. We tried to get help from many different big organizations and couldn't get any so we started having local fundraisers for her because she was a single mother of two boys and couldn't work. But any time there was money raised for her while she was fighting her battle she never hesitated to help someone else around the community, so they felt this was a way to honor her...they have already helped several families and she works tirelessly to make sure there is possibilities to help other people. If you have ever been through it you know what kind of strain it can be to worry about gas back and forth to the doctor or having a utility bill taken care of or groceries for the week or month. I may be partial but this is one of the qualities that i love about her, is her selflessness and her love for people! She is one of the most sympathetic people that I have ever met and if she tells you she will do something she will give her last breath to help even if its a complete stranger. They are currently working on a crawfish boil/car show benefit to raise money on the 24th so its non stop trying to find sponsors or set up activities for that event. I know she will be humble about it and say its not all her that she has help and she does but Amanda is always doing something to make it better...thank you have a nice day

Amanda Kirby, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse and Silver Star Grille have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Amanda to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
