Allegiant Air pilots have been picketing for some time now asking the airline for better pay and benefits. But apparently those requests have fallen on deaf ears or at least on a company that won't meet pilots demands at this point.

According the Tampa Bay Business Journal, in a landslide vote, Allegiant Air pilots authorized a strike Friday against the carrier, moving closer to a scenario that could do serious harm to markets where Allegiant flies.

That market includes the Shreveport- Bossier area where the airline offers cheaper, non stop flights to Las Vegas and Orlando.

No word on when the strike will actually start.
