Airline High School softball coach Roo Johnson resigns after controversial punishment was meted out to team members.
Parents have been upset since a weekend loss resulted in what some describe as unfair punishment.

KSLA reports that Roo Johnson resigned from her position as softball coach but remains an employee of Bossier Schools.

Parents say Johnson canceled the team's dinner plans after losing a game in the Monroe area over the weekend.

One parent told KSLA said the former softball coach told the team, "the girls did not play well enough to deserve to go out to eat."

Parents report the last meal the girls had was at 1:30 p.m. and the team didn't get back to Bossier City until after 10:00 that night.

Parents reported that the students also had their phones taken away on the bus ride back.

An internal investigation is ongoing.

Regina Salvatore has been named interim coach.
